Exploring Math Kangaroo Webinar Recordings

  • Recommended for students aged 6-8 years or in Grades 1 or 2
  • This webinar is distinct from the Math Kangaroo Competition held in March.

Key Details:

  • The webinar is scheduled to meet 10 times for 1 hour each session.
  • Handouts: Please print them before each class. Access the handouts here
  • Optional Homework: For weeks 2-9, students can tackle an entire Math Kangaroo exam to build persistence and stamina for the actual competition 


Webinar Format:

  • The instructor will incorporate Polls to engage students in activities.
  • No direct student-teacher discussions as found in regular small group classes.

Webinar Presenter: Lucia Liu

Lucia Liu is an accomplished educator with over a decade of experience in mathematics, holding a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. As one of the faculty members who helped develop the Math Kangaroo curriculum, Lucia has been instrumental in shaping its educational approach. Since Math Kangaroo launched its online courses, she has taught a variety of group classes, private students, and webinars. Lucia views mathematics as the foundation of all academic subjects and is dedicated to imparting this perspective to her students through her passionate, supportive, and motivational teaching style.

Webinar Contributor: Jacob Barrett

Jacob Barrett is a high school junior from Ridgefield, CT. He has participated in Math Kangaroo since first grade, consistently placing at the top in the state and earning national recognition. He is also captain of his school’s math team and has represented Connecticut at the national ARML competition. Beyond math, he is dedicated to volunteering with individuals with special needs, runs on his school’s cross country and track team, and manages his own math tutoring business.
