Problem number 7. Maya the bee was collecting pollen from all the flowers that are inside the rectangle but outside the triangle. From how many flowers did she collect pollen? A, 9. B, 10. C, 13. D, 17. E, 20. To make this problem a little easier we're going to outline the rectangle and the triangle. Maya the bee did not collect pollen from any of the flowers that are inside the triangle so we're going to cover those up. Now we see that the only flowers we need to count are the ones in the top part of the rectangle here and the bottom part of the rectangle. There are six flowers in the top part of the rectangle and there are three flowers in the bottom part of the rectangle. So there are nine flowers altogether from which Maya collected the pollen. The correct answer is A, 9.
Video Summary
The problem involves calculating the number of flowers inside a rectangle but outside a triangle, as Maya the bee only collected pollen from those flowers. By excluding the flowers inside the triangle, it was found that there are six flowers in the top part of the rectangle and three in the bottom part. Therefore, Maya collected pollen from a total of nine flowers. The correct answer to the problem is A, 9.
