Problem number eight. The braid and the figure is made using three threads. One thread is green, one is blue, and one is red. What colors are the three threads? A. One is blue, two is green, and three is red. B. One is green, two is red, and three is blue. C. One is red, two is blue, and three is green. D. One is green, two is blue, and three is red. E. One is blue, two is red, and three is green. This type of problem is probably done best on paper, where you can either use different colors to mark the threads, or you can even write the letters, for example, G for green, B for blue, and R for red, to mark them, and then figure out which ends they end up. The threads are numbered on the right here. One, two, and three. I am going to color in the parts of the threads so we see the way that the braid is formed, and that should help us give our answer. We'll start with the top color, which is green. What starts at the top continues through here, then here, here, and here, so one is green. And for the blue, we go up here, down, and here, here, and we see that it's two. And for red, we go up here, here, here, and here, and so it's three. So our answer should be that one is green, two is blue, and three is red. And that is answer D.
Video Summary
The problem involves identifying the thread colors in a braid using three threads: green, blue, and red. By following the path of each colored thread through the braid, it is determined that thread one is green, thread two is blue, and thread three is red. The correct answer is option D: one is green, two is blue, and three is red.
