Problem number 12. Tom encodes the words using the board shown. For example, the word pizza has the code A2, A4, C1, C1, B2. What word did Tom encode with B3, B2, C4, and D2? Maize, mask, milk, mate, or math. The word pizza has the code A2, A4, C1, C1, B2. So the way this code works is we have these letters down here, and we have these numbers over here on the side. A2, for instance, would be A, and then 2. So we have A, 2, which is P. Then we would have A4, which would be right there. And then it's the same thing, pretty much, so you just need to look at the letter, find that letter, and then find the number after it and go to which number that is. And so this is C1, so it will be at the very top. Then we have two of those there, and B2 would be here. We're going to look at the letters and then look at the numbers, and then see what letter we get. We start off with B3, so we go to B, then 3. So we have M, then we have B2, which is A. Then we have C4, which is T, and then we have D2, which is H. So our answer is E. Math!
Video Summary
Tom's code translates words using letter-number coordinates on a board. For the word "pizza," the code is A2, A4, C1, C1, B2. Decoding the sequence involves matching letters and numbers. To find the word encoded by B3, B2, C4, and D2: B3 corresponds to M, B2 to A, C4 to T, and D2 to H, spelling "math."
