Problem number 12. One of the pictures below uses a geometric shape that the others do not. Which picture is it? A, B, C, D, or E? Look at these pictures. We see that they're made out of some kind of puzzle pieces. We need to go through and see what kind of geometric shapes these are and find one that only occurs in one picture. So we can start with A. We have a square here. So let's see if there are any other squares. There is a square in B right here. There's a smaller square here in C. There's no square in D. And there's a square in E. Then in A, we have this parallelogram. Let's see if there are other parallelograms. In B, we have one here on the tail. So that's not the one that only occurs there. There's also a parallelogram right here. As well as in D. And the tail of the cat in E. So the parallelogram is not one that only occurs in one piece. The rest of the shapes in A are triangles. In B, we also have a lot of triangles. So a triangle will not be a shape that only occurs in one figure. In fact, all of these figures contain many triangles. So A does not contain any shapes that don't occur in the other pictures. In B, we've already marked all the pieces. There were triangles, a square, and a parallelogram. So it also does not contain any shapes that don't occur elsewhere. The same is true for C. In D, we have one piece that we have not marked yet. And that's this rectangle. We already saw what all the pieces in A, B, and C were. So let's look at E. Nope, E just has a square, parallelogram, and triangle. So there's no rectangle in E either. So D is the only picture that has a rectangle. So this is the answer, D.
Video Summary
The unique geometric shape present in only one of the images is identified in picture D, which contains a rectangle. Other pictures include common shapes such as squares, triangles, and parallelograms found in multiple images. Through a process of elimination by examining each picture, D is revealed to be the only one with a rectangle, making it the distinct option.
