Problem number 16, Anne has four stickers as shown. Circle, square, star, and triangle. She puts down the star after she puts down the square. She puts down the star before she puts down the triangle. Which picture could she end up with? A, B, C, D, or E. When you're putting down stickers, the one that you put down first will end up under the one that you put down later. So let's look at the clues and see what they tell us. First, we know that Anne puts down the star after she puts down the square. So the square will come first, and then the star somewhere on top of it. We also know that she puts down the star before she puts down the triangle. So we have the star down, and the triangle will be somewhere above. The clues do not tell us where the circle is. But we can look at what we have, square, then star, then triangle, and figure out which arrangement is possible. In A, we have the triangle, then the star, then the square. So that is not what Anne could end up with. In B, the triangle's on the bottom, then the star, then the square. So again, that is not the right arrangement, because the triangle has to be above the square and star. In C, we have square, then triangle, then star, which again is wrong. The triangle needs to be above the star. In D, we have the square, then the triangle, and the star, which is the same problem. We need to have the star somewhere under the triangle. In E, we have a square, then the circle, then the star, and then the triangle. This one works. Anne could have put the circle anywhere, so we can just ignore it. But we have the right arrangement of square, then star, then triangle. So she can end up with picture E. So that is the correct answer.
