Question number three, a prism has 2013 faces in total. How many edges does the prism have? Let's consider an example of a prism and see what we can do about counting its faces. So we make a prism by having some n-sided polygon be one face and then a copy of it being the opposite parallel face. So we have two faces at least and then we make more each time we connect opposite corresponding vertices like so, so that's an extra face and here's another one. So let's count the number of faces and we can say that there are 2 plus n faces and how many edges are there? We have n edges on each polygon and then we construct n more by connecting opposite corresponding vertices. Okay, so in all we have 3n edges but we're given the information that 2013 is the number of faces that tells us that n is equal to 2011 and so therefore multiplying this by 3 we obtain the number of edges which comes out to 6033.
