Welcome to the Math Kangaroo 2022 Levels 11 and 12 video solutions, prepared by Adwait Nene. The Math Kangaroo exam has 30 multiple-choice questions. 10 are worth 3 points, 10 are worth 4 points, and 10 are worth 5 points, for a total of 120 points on the exam. The questions are in increasing difficulty, meaning the 3-point questions are the easiest and the 5-point questions are generally the hardest. There are no calculators allowed, and there's no penalty for incorrect answers. So some quick test-taking tips. First is to answer every question. If you don't answer a question, you don't get the points for it automatically, so it's always worth bubbling something in. Don't spend too much time on any one question. Sometimes you might find a later question easier than one of the earlier questions, so it's worth skipping the earlier question and coming back to it later if you have time. Try out some small examples by hand. Oftentimes, a good small example will help you get a feel for how the problem works, and you might be able to spot some patterns. It might even give you a really good way to actually solve the problem. The last tip I have is to use the answer choices to your benefit. Some of the answer choices you can automatically tell are not going to be true, and so you can rule those out automatically. Other times you can use the question or how the answer choices are written in order to give you a sense of how the problem should work. And now in these videos, first I'm going to read the problem for you. Then there's going to be a small break where you can pause and try the problem for yourself. And finally, you can watch the solution afterwards if you want. So good luck on this exam. Give it your best.
