Problem number 23, the small caterpillar shown in the picture curls up to sleep. What might it look like? A, B, C, D, or E? If we look at the caterpillar, we see that it has a pattern. We see one orange which we will call the head. And then we see it goes dark, light, dark, light, dark, light, dark. We are going to look at each of the answers and try and match the pattern. If we look at A, we see it goes head, dark, light, dark, light, dark, light, dark. So this one is good. If we go to dark, we see that we skipped this one. And if we go to light, we see that we skipped the first dark. Otherwise, we would have to miss one of these, which is not possible. In C, we start the head and then we go to dark, light. But then this one would be skipped, and then the next dark in between these two lights would be skipped. If we go the other direction, we go dark, light, dark, light, but then we cannot continue. If we look at D, we see that it will go head, dark, light, dark, but then we cannot get to the next light. And if we go on the other side, we see it goes dark, light, but then we cannot continue to the next dark. And then if we go here, we see that we can go like this, but we cannot get back to the rest of the pattern. So D does not work. If we look at E, we see that the head goes to dark, dark, which means that path will not work. And then if we look at the next route, we see that we go dark, light, dark, light, but we would miss this one. So E also is incorrect, which means our answer is A.
