Question 2. What is the smallest number of ladders the firefighter must use to reach the fire without jumping between platforms?  To solve this, let's start off at the fire first. There's only one ladder we can take, so we'll take that one. Then again, only one ladder. We'll take this one.  And again, only one ladder to take. From here, we have three different ladders we could take.  The two that go down a level lead to nowhere, so we will have to take the one that leads back up.  From here, we see that there are two more ladders, and we end up at the firefighter. In total, we end up with six ladders climbed, so our answer will be C, six.
