Question 27. In a second-hand store, two hats are sold for the same price as five skirts, three skirts for the same price as eight t-shirts, and two t-shirts for the same price as three caps. Which of the following collections is the most valuable? Let's write these out as formulas. We know that two hats are equal to five skirts, three skirts equal to eight t-shirts, and two t-shirts equal to three caps. Since one of the answers, B, is 37 caps, let's write all of our answers in terms of caps. So we know that one t-shirt is equal to one and a half caps, three skirts is equal to 12 caps or four caps equal to one skirt, and two hats is equal to 20 caps or one hat equal to 10 caps. Now we can write all of the answers A through E in terms of caps. A is one hat plus five skirts or 10 caps plus 20 caps, 30 caps total. B is a hat plus three skirts plus a cap or 10 caps plus 12 caps plus one cap equal to 33 caps. C is eight skirts plus six t-shirts, 32 caps plus nine caps or 41 caps. D is 37 caps and E is three skirts plus three caps, 12 caps plus three caps or 15 caps. With this we see that the most valuable collection will be C, eight skirts and six t-shirts.
Video Summary
In a second-hand store, various clothing items are priced in a way that interrelates hats, skirts, t-shirts, and caps. By converting all items into equivalent values in caps, it's determined that option C, consisting of eight skirts and six t-shirts, is the most valuable collection. This translates to a total of 41 caps, surpassing other options.
