Question 29. Which of the following four shapes has the greatest area? If we look at the grids for the shapes, we notice that they are all in a two by two. So let's draw that out and start with our first shape, the W. If we draw the W, we can draw some red lines like so, and notice that half of the area is filled and half of the area is not. So the area of W will be half of the two by two square. Next, let's take a look at the diamond. You can easily see that the diamond takes up half of the area, so that will also be half. Next, let's take a look at lightning. We draw a line here. Again, we will notice that half of the area is blank and half of the area is filled, so lightning is also half. Finally, if we take a look at the crown, if we divide it in half like so, because of the points that go down don't go all the way to the bottom, we see that this fills up slightly more than half of the area, which means that our answer will be C.
Video Summary
The question asks which of four shapes has the greatest area. Each shape is drawn on a two by two grid. The areas of the "W," diamond, and lightning shapes each occupy half of the grid. However, the "crown" shape, due to its design extending more than halfway through the grid, has a larger area than the others. Therefore, the crown shape has the greatest area among the four options, making it the answer to the question.
