Question 12. Mark has five boxes of chocolates labeled A, B, C, D, and E. The chocolates in the boxes have been given numbers according to their flavor, as shown. He ate most of the chocolates. The picture below shows what was left. What was the label of the box marked X? First, let's look at the last box in the second picture. We can see that it only contains a 1. Now, let's look at our original boxes. Box A is the only box that contains a 1, which means that it must be the rightmost box. Now, let's look at the box in the second picture with only a 2 remaining. Notice how out of the remaining boxes, box B is the only box that contains a 2. Therefore, the 2 box must be box B. Now, let's look at the box in the second picture that only has a 3 remaining. Out of our original remaining boxes, only box C has a 3, which means that this box must be box C. Now, we look at the box with a 4 remaining. Out of our two original boxes left, only box D has a 4, which means that this box must be box D, which leaves the last box, the one marked with an X, to be box E.
