Question 14. Each of the 16 circles shown contains a number. Numbers in neighboring circles differ by 1. One of the circles contains a number 5 and another one contains 13. How many different numbers are written in the 16 circles? Notice how when we write down the number 5, we have just enough circles in both directions to reach 13. This means that there is essentially only one way to number all the circles, and this numbering gives us 9 different numbers.
