Question 3. A gray circle with two holes in it is placed on top of a clock face, as shown. The gray circle is turned around its center so that an 8 appears in one hole. Which two numbers could be seen in the other hole? If we take a look at our clock and we had two circles representing what we would see through the gray, I have circled in red 1 and 5, just like the gray covering showing us 1 and 5. And we wish to know which two numbers can show up if one of the numbers is 8. All we have to do is spin the gray, or in our case the clock, to see what we get. We spin this and we see we get 8 and 12. And then if we move 8 to be in the other hole, we get 4 and 8. So, when we have 8 in one of the holes, we will see either 4 or 12, which gives us our answer, A.
Video Summary
The problem involves a gray circle with two holes placed over a clock face. The circle is rotated so that the number 8 appears in one of the holes, and we must determine which two numbers could appear in the other hole. By rotating the circle, it's revealed that the possible pairs with 8 are 8 and 12 or 4 and 8. Thus, the numbers that can be seen with 8 are either 4 or 12, and the correct answer is option A.
