Question number three. Mrs. Margaret bought four cubs of corn for each person in her family, which has four members. She got the discount shown on the sign to the right. How much did she pay? She paid 20 cents for each cob of corn, which comes out to 16 cobs at 20 cents. That's before the discount. However, the sixth and also the twelfth cobs were free. So she ended up paying the price of 14, so we have 14 times 20 cents comes out to 280 cents, or we can say that's the same thing as $2.80. And so that's how much she paid. The answer to number three is C, $2.80.
Video Summary
Mrs. Margaret bought four cobs of corn per family member, totaling 16 cobs. Each cob cost 20 cents, but the sixth and twelfth cobs were free, effectively reducing the number paid for to 14 cobs. Therefore, she paid for 14 cobs at 20 cents each, amounting to 280 cents, or $2.80. The answer is C, $2.80.
