Problem 2 states, Jenny looks at a weather app that shows the predicted weather and maximum temperatures for the next 5 days. Which of the following represents the corresponding graph of maximum temperatures? So in order to solve this problem, let's make a graph ourselves of the maximum temperatures. On the x-axis, which will be our independent variable, we will put the days of the week, and on the y-axis we'll have our dependent variable, which will be the maximum temperatures. So let's figure out the scale of the y-axis. The max value here is 6, and the minimum value is minus 2, so let's make the top of the graph 6, and the bottom minus 2. Let's add some lines so we can see where each temperature is, and some extra labels. So our first data point is Friday, so we will have a point where Friday intersects with the max temperature on Friday, which is minus 1 degrees Celsius. Minus 1 is halfway between minus 2 and 0. Let's do this for the rest of the days, Saturday at the minimum of minus 2, Sunday at 0, Monday at 6, and Tuesday at 2. Finally let's draw a line connecting all of these points. And let's see which answer is the closest. In our case there is only one graph that goes down, up, up, down, and that would be graph B. So the question asked us, which of the following represents the corresponding graph of maximum temperatures? The answer is graph B, letter B.
Video Summary
The problem asks Jenny to identify the graph representing maximum temperatures over the next five days using a weather app. To solve this, a graph is constructed with days on the x-axis and temperatures on the y-axis. The maximum temperature ranges from -2 to 6 degrees Celsius. Points are plotted for each day: Friday at -1, Saturday at -2, Sunday at 0, Monday at 6, and Tuesday at 2. By connecting these points, the solution matches a specific pattern of the graph, which is identified as graph B. Therefore, the answer to the problem is graph B.
