You can notice that we can take away half of it, and now there are no longer midpoints, but there are just vertices that divide the rectangle into four equal sections. Now we notice that one-fourth of this rectangle is shaded. Now if we bring back the full picture, we see that nothing has changed. There is double the shaded area, but there is also double the not shaded area. So with this, we will know our answer is B, one-fourth.
