Discovering Math Kangaroo is recommended for students 11-12 years old or in grades: 6.  

This Math Kangaroo Class is distinct from the Competition held in March.

This class is an interactive class in which the Math Kangaroo instructor incorporates engagement triggers to have students participate in an activity.

Class dates: 10 Wednesdays – Oct.7, Oct.14, Oct.21, Oct.28, Nov.4, Nov.11, Nov.18, Dec.2, Dec.9, Dec.16  

Class time: 6:00pm EST ........................ convert into your time zone


Class study material:
 teacher provides material for the class. There is no required textbook although for extra practice at home these books are recommended but optional.

Discovering, Level 6 Fall: 

Class Information:

  • Students in Grade 5 or 6 with significant math competition experience, ready to compete at a high level in Math Kangaroo and other mathematics competitions, are invited to join the Discovering course.   
  • In this course, students will deepen their mathematical reasoning and advanced problem-solving skills through challenging Level 5–6 Math Kangaroo problems. Topics include patterns, algebraic thinking, visual problem solving, organized lists and tables, working backwards, logical reasoning, statistics and probability, geometry, and the strategic combination of multiple problem-solving tools.   
  • Students will learn when and how to apply a variety of powerful problem-solving strategies, developing both efficiency and flexibility when approaching unfamiliar competition problems.   
  • Homework for this course will consist of problems similar to those explored in class to reinforce the strategies and techniques taught each week.   
  • This class will meet 10 times for 1 hour each.   
  • The class size: 12 students.
