Navigating Math Kangaroo Webinar
Recommended for students aged 7-9 years or in Grades 3-4.
This webinar is distinct from the Math Kangaroo Competition held in March.
Key Details:
- Schedule: The webinar meets 10 times for 1 hour each session.
- Handouts: Print before each class (Note: Lesson 4 does not have a handout). Access the handouts here
Webinar Format:
- The instructor will use Polls to engage students in activities.
- No direct student-teacher discussions as in a regular small group class.
Webinar Presenter: Dr. Sarah Sagi
- Dr. Sarah Sagi
Math Kangaroo Faculty and Curriculum Expert with extensive experience in building Math Kangaroo’s online curriculum. Dr. Sagi has taught Math Kangaroo classes and webinars for 3 years and has coached elementary school math clubs to top honors in international math contests. She graduated from Harvey Mudd College and earned a PhD from UC San Diego in Biomedical Sciences. As a mother of four children, she values introducing alternative methods for solving challenging problems to help each student find their preferred tools. Her hobbies include Zumba, crochet, and walking.

I am in the IB program at my school and enjoy competing in math competitions like UIL and the AMCs. My hobbies include traveling, piano, and chess; I also enjoy tutoring on platforms like Schoolhouse.
Webinar Information:
- Target Audience: Students in Grades 3-4 with math competition experience or those interested in competing at a high level in Math Kangaroo.
- Course Content: The course uses problems from the Level 3-4 competitions and assumes familiarity with problem-solving strategies. It is intense, fast-paced, and enjoyable.
- Optional Homework: For weeks 2-9, students will complete a Math Kangaroo 24-question test to build persistence and stamina for the actual competition.
