Discovering Math Kangaroo Webinar

Recommended for students 10-12 years old or in Grades 5 or 6

This webinar is distinct from the Math Kangaroo Competition held in March.


Webinar Details:

  • Format: 10 online sessions, 1 hour each
  • Dates: 10 Sundays: Oct. 6, Oct. 13, Oct. 20, Oct. 27, Nov. 3, Nov. 10, Nov. 17, Dec. 1, Dec. 8, Dec. 15
  • Time: 4:30 p.m. EST (Live) or watch the recording at any time later. 
  • Registration: Best to register before October 1 to participate live in all webinar sessions

Format:

  • The webinar includes engagement triggers through polls for student participation.
  • There are no student-teacher discussions as in regular small group classes.

  Webinar Presenter: Dr.Sarah Sagi

  • Dr. Sarah Sagi is a Math Kangaroo Faculty and Curriculum Expert with extensive experience in building Math Kangaroo’s online curriculum. Dr. Sagi has taught Math Kangaroo classes and webinars for 3 years and has coached elementary school math clubs to top honors in international math contests. She graduated from Harvey Mudd College and earned a PhD from UC San Diego in Biomedical Sciences. As a mother of four children, she values introducing alternative methods for solving challenging problems to help each student find their preferred tools. Her hobbies include Zumba, crochet, and walking.

Webinar Contributor:

  • Jacob Khohayting is a sophomore at American Heritage in Florida. He has participated in Math Kangaroo since second grade, and has ranked 3rd and 4th nationally in the past two years. In addition, he competes for his school and state math teams and enjoys helping students through his school's tutoring program.

Optional Homework: for weeks 2-9 take the Math Kangaroo 30-question test to build persistence and stamina for the actual competition.
