Mastering Math Kangaroo is recommended for students 14-15-16 years old or in grades: 9 or 10.

This Math Kangaroo Webinar is distinct from the Competition held in March.

Best to register before January 1 to participate live in all webinar sessions.

Webinar study material: teacher provides material for the webinar. There is no required textbook although for extra practice at home you can watch MK video questions and solutions.

In this webinar a Math Kangaroo instructor incorporates engagement triggers through Polls to have students participate in an activity. There are no student-teacher discussions as it happens in a regular small group class.

Webinar Presenter: Dr. Van Koroleva 
Dr. Koroleva graduated with a PhD in applied mathematics from Harvard University and previously worked for Schlumberger Research where she co-invented several patents. She now teaches math to students of all ages through building up their scientific thinking and nurturing their curiosity. She joined Math Kangaroo in 2023 and has been involved in creating the first curriculum for levels 9-10 which is launching this January. 
Webinar Contributor: David Deutsch
David is a high school junior from San Diego, CA. David has experience tutoring at Casa de Amistad. He has participated in Math Kangaroo competition since 3rd grade and has been on the National Winner list each year, ranked 1st nationally for the last three years. He is eager to join the MK team and help students prepare for the competition.

Webinar Information:

• Students with math competition experience or who are interested in competing at a high level in Math Kangaroo are invited to join the Mastering Webinar.
• This course draws on problems from the Level 9-10 competitions, and assumes students have some familiarity with problem solving strategies.
• This course is intense but fun at the same time.
• For added challenge, the optional homework for weeks 2-9 will be an entire Math Kangaroo exam to build the students’ persistence and stamina for the actual competition.
The number of participants is limited to 300 students.
