Class Info

Discovering Math Kangaroo is recommended for students 10-11 years old or in grades: 5. 

This Math Kangaroo Class is distinct from the Competition held in March.

This class is an interactive class in which the Math Kangaroo instructor incorporates engagement triggers to have students participate in an activity.

Class dates: 10 Saturdays – Oct.3, Oct.10, Oct.17, Oct.24, Oct.31, Nov.7, Nov.14, Nov.21, Dec.5, Dec.12  

Class time: 12:45pm EST ........................ convert into your time zone


Class study material:
 teacher provides material for the class. There is no required textbook although for extra practice at home these books are recommended but optional.

Discovering, Level 5 Fall: 

Class Information:

  • Students in Grade 5 or 6 with strong classroom math skills who want to gain the creative thinking needed for Math Kangaroo and other mathematics competitions, are invited to join this Discovering course. Learn the new skills needed to successfully progress beyond Math Kangaroo Level 3-4.  
  • In this course, students will deepen their mathematical reasoning and advanced problem-solving skills through challenging Level 5–6 Math Kangaroo problems. Topics include: number sense, fractions, algebraic thinking, logical reasoning, geometry and mental visualization.   
  • Students will learn when and how to apply a variety of powerful problem-solving strategies, developing both efficiency and flexibility when approaching unfamiliar competition problems.   
  • Homework for this course will consist of problems similar to those explored in class to reinforce the strategies and techniques taught each week.   
  • This class will meet 10 times for 1 hour each.   
  • The class size: 12 students.
